How we are paid
Brokers have a reputation for being vague about this. Here it is on its own page, not buried in the footer.
Tender Grow is a credit broker. We do not lend our own money. We place your application with funders, and we are paid for doing it — sometimes by them, sometimes by you, occasionally both.
It costs nothing to find out where you stand
The eligibility check, the buyer payment record, a conversation about your deal and our honest read on whether it is placeable are all free. We do not charge to tell you no.
When the funder pays us
On most transactions the funder pays us a commission once your funding is drawn. It is not deducted from your advance. Different funders pay different rates, which is a real conflict of interest and the reason the next paragraph exists.
What we do about that conflict
We will tell you what we are being paid on your deal, by whom, before you sign anything. If a funder paying us less is the better deal for you, we will say so and you will still have the choice. If you ever think we have steered you, ask us directly — the commission on your file is not a secret from you.
When you pay us
On some transactions we charge you a fee instead, or as well. That typically happens where the work is heavy relative to the deal, or where no funder commission is available on the route that suits you. Where a fee is payable by you, you get the amount and the basis for it in writing before you commit to anything. We do not take fees up front for work not yet done.
Our fee schedule
Lender pricing is set by each lender on each deal, so no honest broker can publish it as a rate card. What we charge is entirely in our control, so here it is.
FEES at the top of gen.py and rebuild.| What | How much | On what basis | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eligibility check and first conversation | No charge | Free in every case, including when we tell you we cannot place the deal. | Never payable. |
| Funder commission | 1% – 5% of the amount advanced | Paid to us by the funder once your facility is drawn. Not deducted from your advance. We tell you the figure on your deal before you sign. | On drawdown, by the funder. |
| Broker / origination fee | 1% – 5% of the facility | Charged to you only where no funder commission is available on the route that suits you, or where the work is heavy relative to the deal size. | On drawdown. Never up front. |
| Company registration and compliance work | not yet set | Quoted as a fixed price in writing before any work starts. | On instruction. |
Lender interest, initiation and service fees are separate from the above and are set by the lender. You get the full cost of any offer in writing, in rands, before you accept it.
What we will not do
- Charge you to submit an application that we do not believe can be placed.
- Fire your application at every funder on the panel to see what sticks. That leaves a trail of credit enquiries that makes your next application harder.
- Present a funder as your only option when it is simply the one that pays us best.
- Tell you finance is cheap. It is not, and anyone saying otherwise is selling something.
What we cannot promise
Every funder runs its own credit, affordability and fraud checks. Meeting a published minimum does not guarantee approval, and we cannot guarantee any funder will make you an offer. Security, guarantees or indemnities may be required.
If you think we have got it wrong
Phone or email us and say so. Complaints about a funder should also go to that funder directly, because they are a separate business from us.
